Faculty Application Process
All Western International University (WIU) faculty positions are for adjunct faculty—qualified part-time professionals with a desire to share their practitioner experience.
- Please note that faculty are not recruited for all areas at
all times. At this time, we are seeking faculty for the
following courses:
ACC Accounting
BEH Behavioral Science
FIN Finance
INB/INS International Business/International Studies
IT Information Technology (graduate level courses)
MKT Marketing
RES Research
SPN Spanish
- Review the Catalog for our programs, degrees, and certificates and a complete list and description of all courses. Candidates should note the coursework most appropriate to teach, considering their background, experience, and education.
- Email your current resume and a cover letter indicating your
preference for oncampus or online courses and course subject
area(s) to faculty.services.resumes@wintu.edu.
NOTE: If you were referred to WIU from a current faculty member, please submit the Faculty Referral Form with your resume. - Candidates who meet the minimum qualifications after the resume is reviewed will receive an electronic Course Request Form (CRF) from the WIU Faculty Recruiter. Complete and email the CRF to faculty.services.resumes@wintu.edu.
- Successful candidates may be invited to attend the next
Candidate Review, based upon need for faculty for the requested
courses. With the Candidate Review invitation, candidates will
be asked to:
- Prepare and teach a 10-15 minute class (oncampus) or a “live” 7–10 minute class via Adobe Connect (online) for one of the courses on their Course Request Form.
- Submit a writing sample titled "My Philosophy of Teaching."
- Answer and submit the interview questions provided by the WIU Faculty Recruiter.
- Participate in a panel interview conducted by experienced WIU faculty members and staff.
- Candidates will be notified of results within two weeks
after the Candidate Review. If asked to continue in the review
process, the candidate will be required to:
- Submit three letters of recommendation.
- Submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
- Collection and verification of credentials and the faculty approval process may take up to three months.
- Complete and appropriately credentialed candidate files will be reviewed by department chairs to approve the courses to be taught.
- Once courses have been approved, a packet of Human Resources materials will be forwarded to the candidate with an invitation to attend a WIU Faculty Orientation session covering WIU policies and procedures and the next steps in the process.
