WIU Honors College
Western International University (WIU) provides opportunities for high-performing students enrolled in Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degrees to excel through the WIU Honors College. The Honors College is specifically designed to offer top students in undergraduate Business and Liberal Arts degree programs an expanded, challenging education of the highest intellectual and scholarly standard. Honors College students will experience special Honors College courses designed to present a holistic approach to learning that focuses on personal, professional, and academic growth. Honors College students are also expected to participate in at least one professional, academic, or community activity.
Honors College Requirements
Students who meet and maintain the following requirements may earn the distinction of graduating from the Honors College:
- Cumulative GPA of 3.80 maintained at WIU
- Completion of a minimum of 18 credits (including transfer credits)
- 9 credits earned at WIU
- Must be in good financial and academic standing and demonstrate good student citizenship (few withdrawals)
- Must have no Student Code of Conduct violations
- Must have recommendation from employer
A minimum of 15 credits must be earned in Honors courses, including HON 300, Foundation of the WIU Honors Experience, the Honors version of the Capstone course, and a minimum of three other Honors courses. All Honors courses are taught through WIU Interactive OnlineSM.
