International Students Section
English as a Second Language  WIU International Students Information - Multi-cultural environment with a global perspective.

 
WIU's intensive English program is organized into two-month sessions, beginning every other month. 

Courses (each level is eight weeks)

  • 080 Basic English Communication Skills, High Beginning
  • 090 English Communication Skills, Low Intermediate
  • 100 Business English for the Classroom I, Intermediate (3 credits toward undergraduate degree)
  • 110 Business English for the Classroom II, Advanced (3 credits toward undergraduate degree, co-enrollment)

Highlights

  • Intensive program (23 hours per week: Monday - Thursday 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.)
  • Small classes with individual attention
  • Business-related English skills
  • Field trips and projects with local businesses
  • Co-enroll in one university-level course while taking an advanced level ESL class
  • Conditional admission to academic program
  • TOEFL is not required for admittance

Executive MBA program (EMBA)

WIU's EMBA program is designed to prepare practicing managers for the world of international business without interrupting their careers. The EMBA schedule is designed to meet the needs of the group. WIU is prepared to teach partly in the U.S. and partly in the home country.

Admission Requirements

Undergraduate

  • Proof of completion of 12 years secondary school
  • TOEFL: 173 (CB) and TWE: 5.0,  or application to the ESL Program
  • GPA: 2.5
  • Documents required: official transcripts, financial guarantee, application

Graduate

  • Proof of completion of 4-year undergraduate degree from regionally recognized institution
  • TOEFL: 213 (CB) and TWE: 5.0,  or application to the ESL Program
  • GPA: 2.75
